East Finchley, London N2, occupies the area to the north of Hampstead Heath, reaching north as far as the North Circular Road. The A1000 High Road branches from the A1 Archway Road to the south-east and runs through the centre of the village. The main shopping centre is centred around the High Road/Fortis Green junction, but there are other smaller centres further along Fortis Green, towards Muswell Hill, at the northern end of East End Road, on Aylmer Parade, and around the “Old Village” centre of Church Lane. In addition, the A1 Falloden Way/Lyttelton Road is lined with shops.

Often overshadowed by neighbouring Muswell Hill, East Finchley has in fact got much more going for it than just the coveted tube station! East Finchley boasts a high street full of thriving independent shops, a great selecton of pubs and restaurants, and London’s oldest continuously operating cinema, The Phoenix.

As a testament to the community spirit which sets East Finchley apart from other parts of London and, notably, Finchley itself, East Finchley is also home to one of North London’s biggest and longest-running free community festivals, East Finchley Festival, and has its own community newspaper, The Archer, which has been going strong for 30 years.
There are many other community initiatives, which are listed on East Finchley’s Community website, together with school and healthcare information, a comprehensive area guide and what’s on listings.
